Private Transfer from Marrakech to Essaouira

Route facts

  • Distance: approximately 190 km via the N8/R207 corridor
  • Driving time: around 3 hours without stops
  • Price: on request

Route description

The road leaves Marrakech heading west, crossing dry farmland before climbing gently onto the argan plateau. The landscape becomes noticeably greener and windier as you approach the Atlantic, and the temperature usually drops several degrees on the coast.

Optional stops along the way

  • A women's argan oil cooperative on the plateau, where the oil is pressed on site
  • A roadside viewpoint over the argan groves
  • A stop at a café roughly halfway through the journey

Practical information

  • Vehicles cannot enter the Essaouira medina; the drop-off point is the nearest gate, usually Bab Doukkala or Bab Marrakech, with a short walk to your riad
  • Essaouira is windy all year round: bring a jacket even in summer
  • Luggage capacity depends on the vehicle; let us know the number of large suitcases

The vehicle type and passenger capacity are confirmed when we send your quote, based on the number of travellers and luggage.

Marrakech — Essaouira: frequently asked questions

Can we stop along the way?

Yes. One or two stops are common and included in the estimated time. Longer detours are quoted separately.

Can the driver wait and come back the same day?

Yes, in that case it becomes a day trip rather than a one-way transfer; the price is different.

How close can the vehicle get to our riad?

Up to the nearest medina gate. Porters with handcarts are usually available at the gate.
