Shared 3-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour

This route can also be done in shared format, travelling through the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Erg Chebbi dune field alongside other travelers. The itinerary is the same as the private version, but the group organization, pickup and departures work differently.

The route is shared with other travelers. Group size and departure dates are confirmed according to real availability. Write to us with your dates and we'll confirm which departures exist.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 — Marrakech → Tizi n'Tichka → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Early departure from your Marrakech accommodation. The road climbs steadily through the High Atlas and crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass, with stops at viewpoints along the way. After the pass, the landscape turns dry and open, and a side road leads to Ait Ben Haddou, where you can walk up through the old village. Lunch is usually taken here or in Ouarzazate. In the afternoon, continue east along the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley, where you spend the night.

Day 2 — Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Erfoud area → Merzouga

A shorter start through the Dades gorges, then east to the Todra Gorge to walk along the riverbed between the cliffs. The route continues through Tinghir and the Ziz region's palm groves to Erfoud and Rissani. You reach the edge of the dunes in the late afternoon, in time to continue to Erg Chebbi by camel or 4x4 to the camp, and enjoy the sunset over the dunes.

Day 3 — Merzouga → Ouarzazate → Tizi n'Tichka → Marrakech

Sunrise over the dunes, breakfast at the camp and the return journey. The road once again follows the southern route through Rissani, Tinghir and Ouarzazate before the final climb back over the High Atlas. Arrival in Marrakech is usually in the late afternoon or evening.
